PRESS RELEASE

Jeff Ross to Form Exploratory Committee for Senate Seat

CAMBRIDGE – Jeff Ross has announced his intention to form an Exploratory Committee for the Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex Senate District.  “I want to congratulate Senator Barrios in his new position.  I respect and admire the work he has done during his tenure in the state legislature.  The progressive democrats in the district are losing a valuable leader.”

Ross will be a strong advocate on the Municipalities Partnership Act, the environment, lower crime, diversity issues and affordable housing in the district.  Ross resigned from the Hillary for President Steering Committee to take up the task of working to form a dialog with the community on issues that affect the district.  “I look forward to making new friends and fortifying existing relationships,” said Ross.  “I care deeply about the issues that are important to the community and will be a strong voice for progressive issues in the legislature.”

Jeff Ross worked with California Senator Dianne Feinstein, after she won election to the U.S. Senate in 1992.  He has been an advocate for working people and immigrants, and has been a strong and influential voice in the notary legislation drafted by state senator Sue Tucker.  Ross made U.S. history last November when he collaborated with the federal government to reverse the wrongful deportation of a Lynn, MA.  He is also an attorney and is of counsel on the anti-discrimination suit filed against the Mitt Romney administration and the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles in December 2006.  He is a founder of the Brockton Civil Rights Task Force to address social justice issues.

“There is excitement around this candidate,” said Irena Zolotova, Deputy Press Secretary for Ross.  “I am the Progressive Democrat in this race and I need your support,” said Ross.
